Beyond the Oberbeck–Boussinesq and long wavelength approximation

Abstract We present the first simulations of a reduced magnetized plasma model that incorporates both arbitrary wavelength polarization and non-Oberbeck–Boussinesq effects. Significant influence these two effects on density, electric potential E × mathvariant="bold-italic">B vorticity non-linear dynamics interchange blobs are reported. Arbitrary implicates so-called gyro-amplification compared to long approximation leads highly amplified small-scale fluctuations. These strongly increase coherence lifetime alter motion through slower blob-disintegration. Non-Oberbeck–Boussinesq incorporate inertia, which substantially decreases growth rate linear acceleration high amplitude blobs, while maximum blob velocity is not affected. Finally, we generalize numerically verify unified scaling laws for velocity, include ion temperature dependence.
